Curved design, quiet cruising and open waterside spaces define the 14.7-metre Zeelander 5 sports cruiser

The Zeelander 5 approaches the sports yacht concept without relying on sharp angles or deliberately aggressive styling. Measuring 14.7 metres, the Dutch-built model combines flowing lines, carefully designed living spaces and a top speed of up to 40 knots, while remaining suitable for owners who prefer to take the helm themselves.

The recent delivery of a highly personalised example to a Turkish client has brought renewed attention to the model and its capacity to accommodate different tastes and cruising habits. The official shipyard photographs illustrate the Zeelander 5 as a model and should not be interpreted as photographic documentation of the specific yacht delivered to Turkey.

A profile designed to outlast passing trends

The Zeelander 5 derives much of its character from the continuity of its surfaces. The hull, curved windscreen and glazed superstructure appear to merge without abrupt interruptions, creating a silhouette that remains recognisable from a considerable distance.

The design develops the experience gained with the earlier Z44 while introducing more practical spaces, improved performance and a closer relationship between the interior and the surrounding sea. The result is a contemporary sports cruiser that avoids becoming dependent on short-lived design trends.

Natural light from every direction

Large areas of curved glass wrap around the saloon, maintaining a strong connection with the scenery outside. Panoramic visibility makes the living area brighter at anchor and provides a clear view of the yacht’s surroundings from the helm.

An opening sunroof further increases the sense of being outdoors. With the roof open, natural light and ventilation transform the main deck into a space well suited to Mediterranean conditions while retaining the protection of an enclosed superstructure when required.

A saloon that adapts throughout the day

There is no rigid separation between the helm, social area and aft cockpit. Each space connects naturally with the next and can serve a different purpose while cruising, dining or relaxing at anchor.

The galley forms part of the principal living area, while seating and practical surfaces allow guests to move around without unnecessary obstacles. The layout reflects a yacht intended to be used comfortably and spontaneously rather than treated as a formal setting.

The stern becomes part of life on the water

One of the model’s defining features is the Zeelander Beach Sundeck, which extends the aft area and brings guests closer to the sea. It provides space for sunbathing, preparing for a swim or enjoying an uninterrupted view across the water.

Its visual and practical connection with the cockpit turns the stern into a genuine extension of the living space. In the Mediterranean, where much of the day is spent outside, this continuity has a practical value that extends beyond appearance alone.

Two cabins and accommodation for four

The lower deck accommodates up to four people. The owner’s cabin is positioned amidships and uses the yacht’s full 4.2-metre beam, creating generous proportions for a vessel measuring less than fifteen metres.

A second cabin forward provides separate accommodation for guests. Instead of trying to maximise the number of berths, the arrangement concentrates on providing greater comfort for a smaller group, making the yacht suitable for short cruises and coastal stays.

Up to 40 knots with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion

The Zeelander 5 can be equipped with either twin or triple Volvo Penta D6 IPS 650 engines. Depending on the selected configuration, the shipyard states a maximum speed of 40 knots and a range of up to approximately 420 nautical miles.

IPS propulsion includes joystick control, simplifying manoeuvres in marinas and at low speed. This becomes particularly valuable for owners who wish to operate the yacht themselves, either with a small crew or without permanent professional personnel aboard.

Performance accompanied by quieter cruising

Speed represents only one part of the design. Zeelander states that sound levels can remain below 72 dBA, depending on the selected engines, following extensive work on sound insulation and vibration reduction.

Lower noise levels make a tangible difference during a passage. Guests can continue a conversation more naturally, music does not need to compete with the machinery and longer journeys become less tiring for everyone on board.

Each yacht can develop its own character

The shipyard builds the Zeelander 5 in limited numbers and offers extensive opportunities for personalisation. Paint colours, woods, fabrics, stitching and interior details can be selected with the owner, allowing individual examples to develop noticeably different identities.

The yacht recently delivered to a Turkish client demonstrates this approach. According to information released by the builder, the project was refined over more than three years and features Light Gazelle metallic paintwork and an interior influenced by elements from the automotive and luxury craftsmanship worlds. These details belong to that individual yacht and should not automatically be attributed to the configurations appearing in the general model photography.

Compact dimensions without a compact experience

The Zeelander 5 brings together performance, comfort and visual identity without relying on excess. It does not attempt to reproduce a superyacht on a smaller scale, but instead uses its dimensions to provide a more immediate and independent way of enjoying the water.

It can reach a distant bay quickly, spend the day at anchor or undertake a short coastal cruise. Above all, it is designed for owners who consider taking the helm an essential part of the yachting experience.
