Superyacht innovations turning life on board into an experience

Floating golf, camera-equipped SEABOBs and electric surfboards are reshaping the modern superyacht experience

New superyacht technology transforms decks and toy garages into spaces for sport, exploration and entertainment at sea

A day on a superyacht is no longer defined only by sunbathing, swimming in a secluded bay or arriving at an exclusive destination. A new generation of entertainment technology is transforming decks and beach clubs into flexible spaces where guests can play, explore and experience the sea in entirely different ways.

The yacht toy garage is gradually becoming an experience centre in its own right. Sports simulators, electric watercraft and underwater recording systems can now engage guests with different interests, ages and levels of ability.

Turning the deck into a floating golf course

Golf may not be the first activity that comes to mind during a voyage, especially when the nearest fairway is many miles away. Solutions developed by FunAir and Off the Deck show how the sport can be reimagined specifically for the superyacht environment.

Yacht Golf uses inflatable floating targets that can be anchored at different distances from the vessel. Guests play with biodegradable, ocean-safe golf balls, while quick-drying netting helps collect the balls that reach the target. Each green can also be customised to reflect the yacht’s colours, name or crest.

A golf simulator created for life at sea

Guests looking for a more technical challenge can use the SeaDriveCX, a carbon-fibre system designed to turn an open section of deck into a golf practice and entertainment area. Developed specifically for superyachts, the equipment requires little more than enough room for the player to swing comfortably.

The simulator offers a selection of 245 virtual courses and uses tracking technology to analyse club movement and ball performance. It can therefore support anything from a relaxed family competition to a more focused training session. Illuminated screens also allow play to continue after sunset, bringing a sporting dimension to evening entertainment on board.

Discovering the underwater world on camera

Exploring beneath the surface remains one of the most memorable parts of a yachting holiday. SEABOB water sleds are designed to carry swimmers both across and below the water, combining electric propulsion with intuitive control.

The addition of integrated video systems gives each underwater journey a second life. The SEABOB Cam features two cameras, one capturing the surrounding environment and another recording the rider. Footage is stored within the device and can later be transferred to other equipment using WLAN connectivity. A dive can therefore become more than a private memory, turning into a story to watch and share with everyone back on board.

Electric surfing without waiting for waves

For guests drawn to speed and movement, the Awake RÄVIK 3 offers a different way to experience the water. The electric jetboard can be ridden without relying on natural waves, allowing it to operate in a much wider range of sea conditions.

Its 11 kW electric motor and jet propulsion system give riders the freedom to accelerate, carve and experiment with different riding styles. The setup can be adapted from two straps to one strap or completely strapless riding, depending on the user’s confidence and experience.

A revised hull and composite construction were developed to improve stability, weight distribution and hydrodynamic performance. These characteristics make the board approachable for newer users while still providing enough responsiveness for experienced riders.

With a stated top speed of up to 55 kilometres per hour, the RÄVIK 3 can also deliver a decidedly energetic ride. Since no waves are required, guests can enjoy electric surfing in locations and conditions where a conventional surfboard would remain in storage.

Good design also makes life easier for the crew

A successful superyacht accessory is not judged by spectacle alone. Storage requirements, setup time, maintenance and crew involvement all influence how frequently it will actually be used.

The FunAir Yacht Golf green, for example, weighs 14 kilograms, packs into a relatively compact space and takes around 15 minutes to deploy. Practical details such as these allow the crew to offer several activities during the same day without every change of plan becoming a major operation.

Modular batteries, shared control systems and compatible charging equipment are also becoming increasingly valuable. They reduce clutter in the toy garage, simplify preparation and help the crew manage a growing collection of electric equipment more efficiently.

A broader definition of luxury at sea

Superyacht luxury is still expressed through craftsmanship, privacy, design and attentive service. It is also increasingly measured by the freedom guests have to shape their own time.

One person may prefer a precision golf challenge from the aft deck, while another wants to film a dive or cross the bay on an electric board. The most effective technologies do not force everyone into the same activity. They create a wider range of possibilities around the yacht.

This makes life on board more personal and more engaging. A yacht can remain a peaceful retreat, yet within minutes it can also become a sports venue, an underwater exploration base or a launch platform for high-speed adventures. That ability to change pace as naturally as the guests themselves is becoming one of the most appealing qualities of the modern superyacht experience.
