Numarine 40MXP combines 6,000 nautical miles of range, open decks and a beach club in an explorer just under 40 metres

The name already reveals much of the idea behind the project. In the Numarine 40MXP, MXP stands for Mediterranean Explorer, bringing together two concepts that once belonged to rather different worlds, genuine long-range capability and a more relaxed way of living almost entirely outdoors.

At 39.42 metres in length, with an 8.02-metre beam and a declared range of up to 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, the 40MXP retains the credentials expected from a true explorer yacht. Yet the way its spaces are organised shifts the focus toward open decks, easy access to the sea and a less formal style of life on board.

An explorer shaped by the Mediterranean

The central idea is not simply how far the yacht can travel, but what happens once it reaches its destination. Mediterranean cruising often revolves around anchorages, swimming, long lunches and hours spent outside, and this lifestyle has clearly influenced the layout of the 40MXP.

Numarine has retained the range and capability associated with its XP family while creating stronger continuity between the interior and exterior areas. The yacht can therefore cover serious distances, but once anchored it becomes something much closer to a private waterfront residence.

The beach club becomes the social heart of the yacht

One of the defining areas is located at the stern. The beach club has been conceived as an extension of the yacht toward the water, with generous lounging areas and a bespoke pool.

This arrangement deliberately reduces the separation between yacht and sea. Once at anchor, the stern is no longer simply a technical or transitional area but becomes a large waterfront terrace, designed for swimming, relaxing and spending time together.

It is a good illustration of the MXP philosophy, which moves away from the formality traditionally associated with large yachts and toward a more natural, social style of cruising.

Almost forty metres designed for twelve guests

The 40MXP can accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins, while the crew complement can reach nine. Particular attention has been given to the full-beam master suite on the main deck, where the yacht’s substantial beam creates a notably spacious private area.

Additional guest accommodation is located on the lower deck and can be customised. Once again, the emphasis is on balancing the practical character of an explorer yacht with the comfort expected during extended stays on board.

Light and volume shape the interior

The main saloon follows an open approach, with generous glazing and a layout intended to enhance the perception of space. The galley is integrated into the interior arrangement while remaining discreetly separated from guest areas, allowing the crew to work efficiently without interrupting life on board.

An optional upper-deck skylounge can also transform part of the upper level into a climate-controlled panoramic lounge. It adds flexibility during longer passages or when weather conditions make the exterior decks less inviting.

A hull created for serious distances

Behind the relaxed character of the 40MXP remains a technical platform designed for extended cruising. The hull form was developed by naval architect Umberto Tagliavini, a long-standing Numarine collaborator, with particular attention to efficiency and interior volume.

The yacht offers a declared maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, placing it firmly among yachts genuinely capable of long-range passages. Its stated internal gross tonnage is 379 GT, a considerable figure for a yacht just under forty metres.

Can Yalman keeps the unmistakable Numarine identity

Exterior styling comes from Can Yalman, whose work has helped define the visual identity of the XP range. The 40MXP retains the substantial stance of a Numarine explorer, but softens it through open decks and a greater focus on social outdoor areas.

The difference goes beyond appearance. It changes the way time on board is imagined. Cruising, swimming, privacy and social life are allowed to flow into one another rather than being separated into clearly defined moments.

An explorer that does not need to feel like an expedition vessel

This is perhaps where the 40MXP becomes most distinctive. It has the autonomy, dimensions and capabilities expected from an explorer yacht, but avoids building an overly technical atmosphere around them.

The Mediterranean therefore becomes more than a geographical reference. It becomes a way of approaching yacht ownership, with long days outdoors, immediate access to the water, informal spaces and the freedom to move from one anchorage to another without changing the rhythm of life on board.

With the 40MXP, Numarine appears to suggest that exploration does not always mean heading toward remote or extreme destinations. Sometimes it simply means having the range to travel far, while knowing that the best part of the journey may still be a quiet bay, with the stern open directly onto the sea.
