On his third attempt, Dario Ferrari and his Maxi 72 Cannonball deservedly won the Mini Maxi Racer 1 class at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. This year’s event coincides with the 40th anniversary of the International Maxi Association, the recognized World Sailing organization that represents the maxi boats at a global level and joint organizer of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup with the Costa Smeralda Yacht Club."I am very happy for the team," said Ferrari, who has been racing in Sardinia since 1985. "It was a very nice race, the place is beautiful, the boats are exciting. Winning was definitely a challenge, so you can only be happy. We have trained a lot. The boat is important because we have made many changes to it."For Project Manager Federico Michetti, Cannonball’s success comes after six years, of which three beforehand with Robertissima. "It was great. We worked hard and the team did a great job. Maxi 72 takes a long time to set up and obviously budgets are expensive, so you need to find the right balance to be successful. This week we had all kinds of climatic conditions and we used the entire sails inventory.International Maxi Association [continue]
