Some boats are primarily designed to take you somewhere. Others make the journey, the anchorage and the hours spent on board equally important. The Prince 30 Exclusive by Nuova Jolly Marine clearly belongs to the latter category.
At 9.30 metres overall with a 3.22-metre beam, this Italian maxi RIB combines manageable dimensions with generous outdoor areas, performance and the informal style of boating that feels particularly at home in the Mediterranean.
Designed around life on board
The Prince 30 Exclusive makes a strong case for designing a boat around what people actually do once they leave the marina.
The bow, central cockpit and aft dinette provide separate areas that can change purpose throughout the day. Navigation can give way to swimming, lunch at anchor or an afternoon in the sun without requiring a complicated rearrangement of the deck.
With an advertised capacity of up to 12 people, it is clearly intended to be a social boat as much as a performance-oriented one.
An aft deck made for Mediterranean anchorages
The stern is one of the areas that best defines the boat.
During the model’s evolution, Nuova Jolly Marine redesigned the aft dinette to create a larger and more usable space while improving the connection between the cockpit, sunbathing area and swim platforms.
The folding aft backrest can extend the sun pad towards the stern, allowing the same section of deck to work differently when cruising and once the boat is at anchor.
These changes were among the features highlighted when the renewed Prince 30 was presented at the Genoa International Boat Show, although today the model is best understood as part of the yard’s wider Prince Open range rather than simply as a boat-show novelty.
A cleaner helm and a more practical deck
The helm console was also redesigned with greater attention to ergonomics and contemporary styling, while the dedicated pilot seating is intended to provide support during more energetic cruising.
Forward, the layout favours storage and uncomplicated movement around the deck.
There is something refreshingly straightforward about this approach. The Prince 30 Exclusive does not try to turn a nine-metre open boat into a miniature yacht. Instead, it makes full use of what an open maxi RIB can do particularly well, offering easy circulation, accessible outdoor areas and considerable flexibility.
Up to 600 HP when the sea calls for more
Maximum applicable power is rated at 600 HP, with the boat also prepared for twin-engine installations. Nuova Jolly Marine lists its Hi-Power hull among the model’s standard equipment.
Those numbers suggest a substantial performance potential, but horsepower is only one part of the experience.
A convincing Mediterranean day boat also needs to work at low speed, at anchor and with several guests moving around the deck. Storage, easy access to the water and usable seating can become every bit as relevant as acceleration once the destination is a quiet bay rather than another marina.
Enough equipment to stay out all day
The Prince 30 Exclusive carries a 410-litre fuel tank and a 100-litre freshwater tank. Its standard specification includes a shower system, sink, dinette, swim platforms and multiple storage compartments.
Owners can expand the configuration with equipment including a refrigerator, cooking facilities, audio system, T-Top, stainless-steel or fibreglass roll-bar, teak decking and bow thruster.
As a result, two Prince 30 Exclusives can have rather different personalities. One may remain deliberately simple and sporty; another can be configured around longer days at anchor and greater comfort for guests.
A boat with a distinctly Mediterranean character
Mediterranean boating is rarely only about getting underway.
A typical summer day may involve a morning run along the coast, several hours anchored in a sheltered cove, swimming, lunch on board and another short passage before returning to port in the evening.
That kind of boating does not necessarily require cabins and large enclosed interiors. What it does require is a deck that remains comfortable as the day continuously changes.
The Prince 30 Exclusive addresses precisely that idea. It retains the dynamic character expected from a maxi RIB while making room for the quieter side of boating, when the engines are off and the sea becomes the destination itself.
