Eather One, the innovative concept jet, will be powered by the friction of air that affects the entire airplane during flight. This type of renewable and highly available energy is a proposal that fundamentally changes the prospects for innovation in the sector.

While the most current trend in aviation business is the creation of the next generation of electric and hybrid aircraft, a new type of gold rush could develop if physics actually supported the theory behind Eather One.

Designer Michal Bonikowski’s concept is probably four or five generations ahead of the current way of thinking. What the Warsaw designer has devised is potentially revolutionary. Eather One uses friction between air and the high speeds reached by the jet as the primary source of renewable and on-demand energy.

Although it looks like a jet of the future, the main difference between Eather One and contemporary hybrid aircraft are the triboelectric nanogenerators installed in the wings. Nanogenerators convert mechanical energy directly into electrical energy. The aircraft does not need fuel tanks or large battery banks, as it will generate electricity from air molecules in the troposphere and stratosphere.

While Eather One travels at high speed, Bonikowski’s idea is to take advantage of the friction generated by vibrations in the plane’s body and wing curve. Converted energy powers electric motors and recharges batteries.

This concept may never fly out of the realm of science fiction, but it shows that there are still people who can think outside the box and revolutionize entire industries. A bit of what the Wright brothers did at Kitty Hawk at the time. We hope the same for Bonikowski.
