SLX-R 400e, less emissions and thrilling performance

When Sea Ray launched its SLX-R 400e outboard at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, word of the company’s innovations (and fantastic booth) swept through the vast exhibition halls. One of the most innovative boats in the marine industry, the SLX-R 400e outboard features superior technology, high performance propulsion, high design accents and the excellence of the SLX 400.

"The goal was to design a power system that would eliminate the ship’s main generator, so that it could offer a quiet, zero-emissions driving experience."

The system created was called Fathom e-Power, and not only controls all non-propulsion systems, including navigation, air conditioning, stabilizers, autopilot, underwater lights and audio system, but also manages the 22 kw of battery power through four lithium-ion pack. This means that the auxiliary systems can run for up to eight hours, which translates into more time to relax at anchor, without noise and vapors.
Rather than a typical boat rudder, the 400e has two 16-inch touchscreen displays, somewhat like a Tesla, but with custom interfaces designed for marine use.

The 400e is also incredibly fast: with 1,350 total horsepower, its top speed of 65 mph is practically unheard of for a boat for a day. The ship is powered by a trio of 450hp Mercury Racing Outboards.
