Delivered in 2009 to her owner, Hanuman is a regular on the international racing circuit and is one of the most successful J Class winning yachts currently on the water. The sloop arrived in the Netherlands in April to take advantage of Royal Huisman’s Huisfit program at the shipyard’s headquarters in Vollenhove.

In 2017 the ship received a complete overhaul of all its navigation systems before the World Championships. This included a new carbon boom rig - 500 kilograms lighter than its previous rig - as well as a high-speed Reckmann furling sleeve and a complete hull repaint. This time around, the refit was based on a complete overhaul of the on-board systems, a new paint job and an update of the PCL.

Owner Jim Clark is well known at the Huisman shipyard. Over the years he entrusted them with the construction of Hyperion, 47 meters in 1998, followed by Athena, 79 meters in 2004 and finally Hanuman in 2009.
