Coronavirus, what happens at international events...

Unfortunately, as we all know, the ongoing coronavirus outbreak has forced the cancellation or postponement of a number of major Superyachting events around the world. Let’s see which ones together.

The Superyacht Show:

The big event was to be held at Marina Port Vell in Barcelona from 6 to 9 May and was cancelled. The date of the postponement is yet to be determined.

“"Due to the widespread health concerns surrounding the current coronavirus outbreak and the consequent restrictions on large-scale events imposed by the Spanish authorities, unfortunately we have no choice but to cancel the 2020 edition of the Superyacht Show.”

Palm Beach International Boat Show:

The Palm Beach International Boat Show and the Palm Beach Superyacht Show, which were to take place from March 26-29, have been postponed to a date to be allocated.

“By adhering to the government’s recommendations to suspend all mass meetings due to contagion issues, we fully support the decision as the health and safety of our visitors, communities, exhibitors, staff and sellers is our Top priority. We are currently working with the city of West Palm Beach to identify a new date.”

Superyacht Experience 2020:

The Superyacht Experience 2020, which was to be held at Rybovich SuperYacht Marina in March, precisely from 26 to 29, has been cancelled.

“Unfortunately, we have no choice but to cancel the inaugural edition of The Superyacht Experience at Rybovich Marina. We’ve had an incredible line-up of confirmed superyachts for the show, overwhelming industry support and strong buyer interest, but health and safety are obviously the top priority.”

The Superyacht Gathering:

The Superyacht Gathering, which was due to take place in Auckland from 25 to 27 March, has been cancelled. The date of the postponement is unknown.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that the Superyacht Gathering of March 2020 will be cancelled. As you all know, the decision was not taken easily, but in the current environment it would have been irresponsible.”

l Palma Superyacht Show:

The Palma Superyacht Show, which was to be held from 29 April to 3 May, was postponed until June, precisely from 4 to 7.

“In light of the global health problems related to the coronavirus outbreak, the organizers of the Palma International Boat Show event decided to postpone the show until June. The decision complies with the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs to postpone events that attract a high concentration of people. Although decisions like this are not easy, the safety and well-being of our visitors, exhibitors and partners comes first.”

The MYBA Charter Show:

The event and its programming have lasted as long as possible, but even this was forced to close due to the coronavirus.

“The situation of the Covid-19 virus has evolved rapidly in recent days and, unfortunately, developments have not been favourable. The Council is therefore in a Force Majeure situation with respect to its contractual obligations and believes that it is better not to proceed in these unprecedented circumstances.”

Singapore Yacht Show:

The Singapore Yacht Show, which was to be held from March 19-22, was postponed until October 2020.

’"Since the situation appears to be increasing rather than stabilising, travel restrictions and public perception of health concerns are unlikely to have eased sufficiently by the end of May to allow us to keep the show in that month. We therefore have no choice but to postpone it until October. The exact dates are still in question with the host venue, ONE-15 Marina Sentosa Cove.

Dubai Boat Show:

The Dubai Boat Show has been postponed from March 10 to 14 to November 24-28, 2020 and will be held in the port of Dubai.

“While the UAE remains completely safe for travel and has implemented the strictest medical and hygiene protocols, we fully recognize that for some specific shows, we have a high majority of key participants significant for the event schedule that they are unable to travel due to restrictions in their home country.”
