Benetti reveals Clear Waves 70M, a concept combining a Glass Dome, onboard garden, solar surfaces and wellbeing-focused spaces

With Project Clear Waves 70M, Benetti explores a different approach to large-yacht design, placing natural light, connection with the sea and wellbeing at the centre of life on board. Developed with LUCA DINI Design & Architecture, the 70-metre concept treats architecture, technology and nature as parts of a single design system.

A 70-metre concept for 14 guests

Project Clear Waves measures 70 metres overall and is designed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Accommodation is arranged for 14 people across seven cabins.

LUCA DINI Design & Architecture is responsible for the concept, exterior design, interior design and deck design. This continuity allows the exterior architecture, internal layout and relationship between onboard spaces to be developed as a coherent whole.

The Glass Dome becomes the heart of the project

The most recognisable architectural feature is the Glass Dome, a large glazed structure providing uninterrupted 360-degree views and intended to reduce the separation between the interior, the marine environment and the surrounding landscape.

A garden beneath the dome brings greenery and natural light into the yacht itself. Elements normally associated with the outside environment therefore become part of the architecture rather than simply a view beyond the windows.

The design draws inspiration from natural forms, including ocean waves, the transparency of jellyfish and the iridescence of dragonfly wings, translating them into glazing and lightweight geometries.

Solar panels become part of the architecture

The Glass Dome has a function beyond its visual identity. Photovoltaic panels are integrated into its glazed surfaces, generating energy for the yacht’s hotel load while also filtering the natural light entering the space.

Technology is therefore incorporated directly into the architecture rather than added as a separate component. The result connects energy efficiency, light management and structural design.

Each deck explores a different dimension of wellbeing

Benetti organises the concept around several aspects of wellbeing. Different decks are intended to support movement, mental balance, social interaction and the quality of the onboard environment.

These spaces are complemented by systems addressing clean air and pure water, while the underlying technology is intended to remain largely in the background.

The approach moves beyond the conventional idea of concentrating wellness facilities within a dedicated spa. Wellbeing becomes a principle shaping the entire yacht and the way its spaces relate to one another.

Yacht architecture meets residential design

The collaboration between Benetti and LUCA DINI Design & Architecture brings together yacht construction, residential architecture and hospitality. The Florence-based studio focuses on the relationship between proportions, materials, light and spatial organisation, with the quality of the human experience as a recurring reference.

On Clear Waves 70M, this approach leads to a highly glazed superstructure and spaces intended to maintain a strong visual relationship with the surrounding environment.

The concept therefore treats design not simply as a stylistic exercise, but as a means of changing the way a yacht is experienced and inhabited.

A laboratory for future Benetti Custom yachts

Project Clear Waves 70M forms part of Benetti’s Custom family and should be understood as a design concept rather than a completed yacht. Its solutions nevertheless indicate several areas the yard is exploring for future large custom projects.

The combination of extensive glazing, photovoltaic energy generation, greenery and spatial organisation presents technology and wellbeing as connected rather than separate themes.

Clear Waves ultimately becomes an exploration of how time can be experienced on board, not only through size and volume but through light, environment and the quality of everyday life at sea.
