Arcane Era and Arcane Nova both measure 55 metres, have a beam of 9.10 metres and remain within 499 GT. Yet RMK Yachts has not conceived them simply as two variations of the same superyacht.
Era looks at the evolution of an established design language, taking it towards the future without losing familiarity and elegance. Nova makes a more decisive move, using the same scale to explore a different organisation of space and an even stronger relationship with the outdoors.
Together they form the Arcane Project, developed by the Turkish shipyard with Espen Oeino International and Cassetta Yacht Designers: two different answers to the same question of how life aboard a 55-metre superyacht could evolve.
One platform, two interpretations
The shared technical foundation makes the differences easier to understand. Both concepts measure 55 metres overall, with a beam of 9.10 metres and a draught of 2.60 metres. Construction combines a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, while accommodation is designed for 12 owner and guest berths across six cabins, together with 11 crew.
Naval architecture is by Van Oossanen, with exterior design by Espen Oeino International and interiors by Cassetta Yacht Designers.
Absolute speed is not the principal objective. IPS propulsion supports the philosophy of a displacement expedition yacht, while RMK quotes a range of approximately 5,000 nautical miles at 9 knots in Eco Mode for both concepts. Hybrid propulsion is listed as an option.
From this common foundation, however, two distinct paths begin.
Era, evolving without discarding what works
RMK describes Arcane Era as a meeting between timeless elegance and contemporary styling. Rather than seeking a complete break with the past, the design refines proportions, layout and the relationship between private areas and shared spaces.
One of its central features is the positioning of the owner’s suite, conceived to provide a degree of separation from everyday life on board that the shipyard associates with significantly larger yachts.
The suite is complemented by a 42.5 m² private terrace, while the general arrangement seeks to keep guest circulation distinct from the operational routines of the crew.
It is an interpretation of luxury based less on the simple amount of space available and more on the ability to choose when to participate in life on board and when to retreat from it.
Nova changes the way the upper deck is used
Arcane Nova starts from the same length but develops a different personality. RMK presents it as the more future-oriented concept of the pair, with much of its design exploration focused on a new interpretation of the upper areas.
Its most distinctive feature is the RMK Jumbo Deck: approximately 190 m² of open-air space conceived as one large continuous environment where relaxation, wellness and entertaining can coexist without the fragmentation of more conventional deck layouts.
It is not simply a larger sundeck. The design idea is to turn a significant part of the yacht’s upper surface into a destination in its own right, capable of supporting different activities throughout the day.
The Piazza brings the sea into the design
Another key element of the Arcane outdoor experience is the Piazza, an aft area of approximately 180 m².
The pool on the main deck aft measures 3.70 by 2.50 metres, while folding bulwarks increase the available surface and bring guests physically closer to the water.
The concept moves beyond the conventional beach club enclosed within the hull. Here the relationship with the sea is brought outside, creating a space that can serve simultaneously as a swimming area, terrace and social environment.
Forward is the Piazzetta, another outdoor area of approximately 94 m² that offers a different perspective over the surroundings and allows guests to spread across several distinct areas of the yacht.
The Love Nest above life on board
Era and Nova also share one of the Arcane Project’s more unusual features: the Love Nest.
RMK places it at the yacht’s highest position, conceptually separating it from the activity on the decks below. It is designed as a more intimate panoramic retreat where the view becomes the defining element.
On Arcane Nova, the concept is taken further with the addition of a private jacuzzi.
The idea is notable because it transforms a part of the yacht that can often be treated as secondary or primarily technical into one of the most desirable spaces on board.
A 55-metre yacht seeking more space without growing larger
One of the most interesting aspects of the two concepts is the relationship between their length and the amount of usable space.
Era and Nova remain at 499 GT, yet accommodate expansive outdoor areas, private terraces, a gym, sauna, massage room, pool and several dedicated open-air living spaces. A 7.20-metre tender can be carried forward on the main deck, helping to free other areas of the yacht.
The compact nature of the IPS propulsion system also contributes to the arrangement of volumes below deck, giving the designers greater freedom when developing the general arrangement.
The objective is therefore not simply to make a 55-metre yacht feel larger, but to reconsider how the available surface can be used.
Two yachts reflecting a changing shipyard
Arcane Era and Arcane Nova arrive as RMK Yachts itself undergoes an industrial transformation. The builder has started construction of its new Yalova facility near Istanbul: 70,000 m² of waterfront space dedicated exclusively to yacht building, with full operational capacity targeted for 2027.
Against this background, the two Arcane concepts take on a broader significance.
Era represents continuity, taking a familiar language and developing it towards its most refined expression. Nova attempts to imagine what may come next, using large open surfaces and a different deck organisation to place the owner and guest experience at the centre of the architecture.
Two yachts of the same length, therefore, but not two identical yachts.
Perhaps this is the most interesting point of the Arcane Project: showing that radically changing the way a superyacht is experienced does not necessarily require making it larger. Sometimes it is enough to rethink what happens within those 55 metres.
