Tankoa M/Y Singolare, when a platform becomes truly personal

Designed by Giorgio Cassetta with interiors by Debora Aguiar, M/Y Singolare expresses Tankoa’s boutique philosophy in a yacht under 500 GT

Tankoa M/Y Singolare interprets the 45-metre T450 platform through customised spaces, wellness, cinema and a strong connection between interiors and the sea

The name Singolare seems to declare the project’s intention from the outset. It is the second yacht in Tankoa’s T450 series and therefore starts from an established platform, yet the result deliberately moves away from the idea of a repeatable product. Across its 45 metres, the Genoa shipyard has focused above all on customising the spaces and on the way the owner intends to spend time on board.

This is where the idea of semi-custom acquires a practical meaning: rather than starting every project from a blank sheet, a proven technical foundation becomes the basis for a highly personal onboard experience.

45 metres and almost 500 GT to interpret

M/Y Singolare measures 45 metres in length, with a maximum beam of 8.90 metres and a gross tonnage of 495 GT. The hull is built in steel, the superstructure in aluminium, and the yacht is based on Tankoa’s T450 platform.

The exterior design is by Giorgio Cassetta, with clean surfaces, balanced proportions and extensive glazing helping to visually lighten substantial volumes.

The central question, however, is not simply how much space is available, but how it is used. Singolare was developed around the lifestyle and personal preferences of its South American owner, transforming the platform into a strongly individual yacht.

Wellness moves to the upper deck

One of the project’s most distinctive features is the concentration of spaces dedicated to leisure and wellbeing.

The upper deck includes a sauna, gym and private cinema facing forward. Rather than treating these functions as additional amenities distributed around the yacht, Tankoa brings them together in an area that almost becomes a private retreat dedicated to wellness and relaxation.

The gym benefits from its visual connection with the exterior, while the cinema takes a function traditionally associated with enclosed spaces and places it in a panoramic setting.

It reflects the evolution of the contemporary superyacht: no longer simply a collection of large saloons and cabins, but a series of highly specific spaces shaped around the habits of those who actually live on board.

A veranda that becomes a saloon

The sun deck also explores the theme of transformation. Its hard top incorporates a fully enclosed veranda that can become an air-conditioned saloon.

The same space can therefore be experienced in different ways depending on the time of day, season and weather conditions. On a yacht designed for extended stays on board, this is particularly relevant because it makes the distinction between indoor and outdoor living less rigid.

An elevator also connects the main deck with the sun deck, making movement between the yacht’s different levels easier.

Bringing the sea into the interior

The interiors are by Brazilian architect Debora Aguiar, who has adopted a contemporary residential language, combining materials, textures and crafted details to create a warmer atmosphere than that of a purely nautical interior.

In the main saloon, large sliding glass panels can open the space towards the exterior. When the yacht is at anchor, the boundary between inside and outside becomes less evident and the perception of the room changes considerably.

The solution is consistent with one of the recurring ideas throughout Singolare: using glass and openings not simply to provide more natural light, but to keep the sea present even while guests are indoors.

An owner’s suite and four guest cabins

The full-beam owner’s suite is positioned on the main deck, while four guest cabins are located on the lower deck.

The layout therefore creates a clear separation between the owner’s private area and guest accommodation while retaining the capacity expected from a superyacht in this category.

Yet once again, the numbers tell only part of the story. The yacht has been designed around extended stays on board, with spaces intended to function not simply while cruising but as genuine residential environments.

At the stern, a closer relationship with the water

The beach club introduces a more informal environment closer to the sea. Information released ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show also highlights an infinity pool, integrated into a stern area designed to strengthen the relationship between the yacht and the water.

The combination of wellness facilities, cinema, fitness areas and spaces close to the sea suggests a clear reading of the project: Singolare is not simply about increasing the number of amenities on board, but about distributing different experiences across the yacht’s decks.

Each area consequently develops its own identity.

Tankoa’s boutique philosophy

Tankoa frequently uses the idea of a boutique shipyard to describe its approach to yacht building. With Singolare, this philosophy is particularly visible.

The T450 platform provides an already developed technical foundation without imposing a rigid identity. Layouts, spaces and individual solutions can instead be adapted to bring the finished yacht closer to the owner’s requirements.

It is a different path from absolute full-custom construction, but also from highly standardised production. Between the two lies a space where engineering and personalisation can coexist.

Singolare heads to Monaco

M/Y Singolare will be presented at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show, from 23 to 26 September, alongside the 52-metre full-custom M/Y Spirit. For Singolare, Monaco represents a world debut at the event.

The show provides an important international stage, but the yacht itself remains the more interesting story.

At 45 metres and just under the 500 GT threshold, Singolare demonstrates how a semi-custom platform can be used not to build identical yachts, but to create markedly different interpretations.

Perhaps that is the most appropriate meaning of its name: not simply being the second T450, but appearing to be the first yacht designed precisely for that particular owner.
