Cranchi A32, when the sea becomes part of the onboard space

The Cranchi A32 interprets Mediterranean day cruising with a transforming beach area, social spaces and a cabin designed for longer stays on board

The Cranchi A32 is built around an idea that becomes immediately clear during a day at sea: reaching a bay is only part of the experience; what really matters is how you enjoy it once you arrive. Within an overall length of 10.21 metres, this luxury tender therefore devotes much of its design to outdoor living, easy movement between bow and stern and reducing the physical distance between those on board and the water.

The hull was designed by Aldo Cranchi, while the overall project comes from the Centro Studi Ricerche Cranchi, with art direction by Christian Grande. With a beam of 3.05 metres, the proportions remain relatively compact, but the way the spaces are organised gives the yacht a more dynamic character than a conventional day cruiser.

The stern changes once the anchor goes down

It is at the stern that the A32 most clearly reveals its personality. Part of the side bulwark can fold down to align with the swim platform, increasing the usable surface and transforming this section of the yacht into a genuine beach area.

This is more than a way of gaining a few extra square metres. It changes how the area is used, reducing the physical separation between the cockpit and the sea and creating a more open environment.

The swim platform is part of this transformation as well. One section moves hydraulically and rotates to form two steps, making access to and from the water easier. It is a feature that makes particular sense during long periods at anchor, when the boat temporarily stops being a means of transport and becomes the place where the day is actually spent.

From swimming to lunch without changing spaces

The A32 is clearly designed around social life. The cockpit offers generous seating around the dinette, while dedicated seats are provided for the pilot and co-pilot. The bow is also designed as a usable relaxation area, allowing guests to spread across much of the outdoor deck.

A 35-litre cockpit refrigerator keeps drinks and food within easy reach without having to go below deck. These apparently small functional details can make a considerable difference on a boat primarily intended for day cruising.

The A32 can also be configured with a T-Top, providing additional shelter to the central area while maintaining the open character of the yacht.

A day cruiser that does not require a return to port at sunset

Describing the A32 simply as a tender, however, would tell only part of the story. Below deck there is a cabin and separate bathroom, making short stays on board and more intimate cruising possible in addition to the classic day trip.

Cranchi has chosen finishes more commonly associated with larger yachts, including oak-plank flooring and a marble vanity top. The cabin also includes a second 90-litre refrigerator, complementing the unit in the cockpit and making longer stays more practical.

This dual personality is one of the more interesting aspects of the design. The A32 can be used to reach a destination and spend a few hours on the water, but it also leaves open the possibility of staying on board beyond the end of the day.

Three power options for the same concept

Cranchi offers several Volvo Penta configurations. Owners can choose twin V6-280 engines producing 280 hp each, twin V8-350 units delivering 350 hp each or, for those who prefer diesel, twin D4 engines rated at 270 hp.

Fuel capacity is 600 litres, while fresh water capacity is 140 litres. Declared light displacement ranges from 5,120 to 5,720 kg depending on the configuration. The shipyard lists CE Category B/C and a maximum passenger capacity of 8 or 12 depending on category and specification.

These figures reflect the versatile character of the A32: compact enough to retain the immediacy of a day cruiser, yet equipped to offer more than a boat intended purely for short transfers.

A concept naturally suited to the Mediterranean

The ability to open the stern towards the water, distribute guests across several outdoor areas and still provide a proper cabin below deck makes the A32 particularly well suited to a Mediterranean way of enjoying a boat.

Here, time spent under way is often only one part of the day. The rest may unfold in front of a beach, beside an island, inside a sheltered bay or simply at anchor, moving between swimming, lunch and relaxation.

This is the environment in which the A32’s design makes the most sense. Rather than trying to turn a ten-metre boat into a scaled-down conventional yacht, Cranchi uses those dimensions to create a versatile platform from which to experience the sea.

In September 2025, this design approach was recognised with the Design Innovation Award at the Genoa International Boat Show, in the category for boats up to 10 metres hull length.
