METSTRADE 2026, Amsterdam returns to the centre of the international marine industry

From 17 to 19 November, METSTRADE 2026 will bring the international marine industry together in Amsterdam for technology, innovation and superyachts

Nearly 1,700 exhibitors, professionals from more than 140 countries and a full week focused on the future of boating put Amsterdam at the heart of the industry

From 17 to 19 November 2026, RAI Amsterdam will once again become one of the world’s main meeting points for the people who design, build, equip and operate yachts and leisure craft. METSTRADE is not a boat show in the conventional sense. The main attractions are not yachts lined up along the dock, but the systems, materials, technologies and expertise that allow those yachts to be built, improved and operated. Components, onboard systems, propulsion, electronics, services, refit, design and emerging technologies come together for three days in an event primarily aimed at marine professionals.

The 2026 edition is expected to feature nearly 1,700 exhibiting companies, with marine professionals attending from more than 140 countries. These numbers help explain why, for a few days every November, Amsterdam becomes much more than an exhibition venue and takes on the role of an international marketplace for the marine industry.

Behind every yacht is a world of technology

When looking at a finished yacht, attention naturally goes to its exterior lines, interiors, performance and life on board. METSTRADE provides a view of what usually remains behind the scenes. Electrical systems, propulsion, composites, stabilisation, lighting, climate control, electronics, water treatment, structural components and digital solutions are all fundamental to the evolution of contemporary yachting.

This industrial dimension is precisely what makes the exhibition different from the major boat shows of the Mediterranean or the United States. In Cannes, Monaco or Fort Lauderdale, attention tends to focus on the finished product. In Amsterdam, much of the conversation shifts towards how that product can be designed, built and improved.

The 2026 show includes specialist areas covering superyachts, marinas and yards, construction materials, foiling, technology, startups and other sectors, creating dedicated routes through the extensive RAI exhibition space.

The Superyacht Zone reflects a changing industry

For the large-yacht sector, one of the main destinations will once again be the Superyacht Zone, located across halls 8, 9 and 10. It is more than an exhibition area for suppliers: technology, construction, yacht operations and refit are brought together within the same environment.

Refit is becoming increasingly significant. METSTRADE highlights a global fleet of around 6,000 active yachts requiring regular major works. Upgrading systems, reducing consumption, integrating new technologies and extending the operating life of a yacht create a market involving shipyards, designers, suppliers and operators long after the original build has been completed.

The zone also includes the Superyacht Stage, with discussions focused on technologies and applications influencing the future of superyacht design, innovation and operations.

Innovation is no longer just about performance

One of the most revealing aspects of METSTRADE is seeing how the meaning of innovation has evolved. A new solution is no longer judged only by whether it can make a yacht faster, more powerful or more comfortable.

Energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental impact, accessibility and emerging technologies are increasingly integrated into the design process. For 2026, METSTRADE identifies emerging technologies, sustainability, accessibility and inclusion among the key themes shaping the event.

This transition concerns both superyachts and the wider leisure marine sector. Batteries, alternative propulsion, materials, intelligent systems and energy management are no longer simply technological experiments. They are becoming possible responses to an industry being reshaped by regulation, operating costs and changing owner expectations.

The Superyacht Forum takes the conversation beyond the stands

Amsterdam’s marine industry week extends beyond the exhibition halls. Alongside METSTRADE, The Superyacht Forum returns as a meeting place primarily for senior figures and decision-makers from the international superyacht sector.

Organisers expect more than 950 senior decision-makers to participate in 2026. The announced theme, Accelerate the Evolution, is intended to move the debate from ambition towards implementation across areas including sustainability, innovation, infrastructure, regulation, talent and operational excellence.

SuperyachtNews also points to changes in the format, with greater emphasis on extended networking and increased participation from operational yacht professionals, including captains, engineers, first officers and chief stewards, whose practical experience can add a different perspective to industry discussions.

Amsterdam becomes an international diary of meetings

The value of a B2B event such as METSTRADE cannot be measured only by the number of stands. Many conversations begin before the exhibition halls open and continue after they close through company meetings, presentations, conferences, dinners and informal encounters.

This helps explain why the combination of METSTRADE and The Superyacht Forum retains a distinctive place in the international calendar. Following the autumn shows in Cannes, Monaco and Fort Lauderdale, Amsterdam arrives at a point when many companies are already considering future programmes, investments and partnerships. SuperyachtNews describes the November gathering as a week when a significant part of the industry concentrates its attention and business activity on Amsterdam.

Not a yacht show, but a place where the next yacht begins

For those who view yachting only from an owner’s perspective, METSTRADE may appear less spectacular than a row of superyachts moored in Monaco. Yet that difference is exactly what makes the event interesting.

Many technologies that may become normal features aboard yachts in the coming years are first presented, discussed, compared and developed in professional environments such as this one. Behind a more intuitive bridge, a more efficient energy system, a new material, a refit solution or an almost invisible component can be years of industrial development.

From 17 to 19 November 2026, Amsterdam will therefore offer a very particular view of yachting: not so much the yachts we already know, but the ideas, technologies and decisions that could help define those we will see on the water in the years ahead.
