The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 combines 1,450 horsepower, foil technology and open-air living in a catamaran exceeding 40 knots

The partnership between Sunreef Yachts and BRABUS has produced the BRABUS ULTIMA 55, a 17-metre power catamaran that approaches fast cruising with a bold, contemporary and instantly recognisable personality. Rather than simply adding a new visual package to an existing yacht, the project represents the first model created by combining Sunreef’s multihull expertise with the German brand’s long-established performance culture.

Two distinct identities behind one unconventional yacht

The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 is built on the Sunreef ULTIMA platform, developed to bring together qualities normally associated with different types of yacht. It offers the stability, space and liveability of a catamaran while pursuing the handling and agility expected from a modern performance monohull. With an overall beam of 5.6 metres, its compact proportions create a powerful stance without turning the yacht into an oversized floating residence.

More than 40 knots from a combined 1,450 horsepower

Power comes from two six-cylinder engines, each producing 725 horsepower for a combined output of 1,450 horsepower. This allows the catamaran to exceed 40 knots, an impressive figure for a yacht also designed to provide generous social areas and comfortable accommodation. Performance is therefore more than a headline number, offering the ability to travel quickly between coastal destinations, islands and secluded anchorages.

Foil technology creates a smoother and more stable ride

Beneath the water, an advanced foil system generates lift as speed increases. By raising the hulls higher above the surface, the technology reduces hydrodynamic drag and keeps lateral heel to a minimum. The effect is intended to improve efficiency, stability and ride comfort, allowing the yacht to feel lighter and more controlled when travelling at higher speeds or crossing changing sea conditions.

Carbon fibre shapes a distinctive exterior identity

The BRABUS influence is visible in the exposed carbon-fibre elements, front and rear wings, ventilation details and pillars featuring illuminated logos. Exterior finishes include Graphite Black and Phantom Grey, complemented by bespoke upholstery combinations inspired by the brand’s automotive creations. Integrated LED lighting also becomes part of the yacht’s visual signature, highlighting its architecture without overwhelming the clean profile of the Sunreef ULTIMA platform.

The aft deck opens into a waterside beach club

Lowering the folding side platforms transforms the stern and extends the usable deck area towards the water. The resulting beach club includes convertible sunpads, an extendable carbon-fibre dining table, a wet bar and an electric barbecue. These adaptable elements allow the space to move easily from relaxed lounging to open-air dining or entertaining, making it particularly appealing during long days at anchor.

A quieter open-air retreat at the bow

Outdoor life is not limited to the main aft entertainment area. A large central sunpad at the bow provides a more private setting, separated from the activity around the cockpit and beach club. It can be used for relaxing while under way, watching the coastline approach or enjoying a quiet moment at anchor while other guests occupy the social areas at the stern.

An interior shaped by bespoke automotive craftsmanship

Inside, Moonstone leather, Alcantara, aluminium details and exposed carbon fibre create a modern environment with clear automotive influences. The panoramic helm and widescreen control interface give the yacht a technical centrepiece, while customisable ambient lighting changes the atmosphere throughout the day. The main saloon also incorporates a fully equipped galley, adjustable tables, integrated storage and a 43-inch television that rises electrically from the furniture when required.

Technology remains present without dominating the design

A Bowers & Wilkins Marine Series sound system provides premium audio throughout the yacht. Refrigerators, ice makers, an induction cooktop, an electric oven and entertainment systems are incorporated into the furniture to preserve the visual continuity of the interior. The technology is always available, yet remains discreet enough to avoid turning the saloon into an equipment showroom.

Two layouts accommodate four or six guests

Owners can select between two accommodation arrangements. The standard layout includes a large owner’s suite, a VIP cabin and separate quarters for one crew member, providing accommodation for four guests. An alternative three-cabin version increases guest capacity to six while retaining dedicated crew accommodation. Both layouts are designed to preserve privacy and make efficient use of the volume available inside the twin hulls.

A catamaran for owners unwilling to compromise

The BRABUS ULTIMA 55 is aimed at owners who want speed without losing space, an assertive design without sacrificing everyday comfort and a strong identity supported by genuine cruising functionality. It combines the emotional appeal of a performance car with the versatility of a multihull, creating a yacht where open decks, adaptable furniture and connected living areas encourage guests to experience the sea rather than simply observe it.
