Fountaine Pajot FP48, the new sailing catamaran opens life on board to the sea

Fountaine Pajot reveals the FP48, a new sailing catamaran with open living spaces, two layouts and up to 2,300 watts of solar power

With the new FP48, Fountaine Pajot is renewing its offer in the cruising sailing catamaran segment. The first official images reveal a model designed to create a more natural connection between the interiors, the outdoor areas and the surrounding sea, turning the yacht into a place that can be enjoyed throughout the day.

The project succeeds the Tanna 47 while introducing a more contemporary approach to life on board. Comfort is not provided by volume alone. It also comes from the continuity between the different areas, the ease of moving around the yacht and the opportunity to choose between several spaces for socialising, relaxing or enjoying greater privacy.

A saloon that extends into the cockpit

One of the defining features of the Fountaine Pajot FP48 is its three-metre-wide sliding glass door connecting the saloon with the aft cockpit. Once opened, it significantly reduces the boundary between inside and outside, creating a single living area overlooking the water.

The centrally positioned galley helps turn this part of the yacht into a natural gathering place. Guests preparing a meal, relaxing in the saloon or sitting in the cockpit can remain part of the same conversation without feeling separated into different sections of the boat.

Several outdoor spaces for every part of the day

The aft cockpit is only one of the areas created for outdoor living. A second cockpit at the bow provides a quieter setting while at anchor, while the elevated Lounge Deck offers a panoramic place from which to watch the coastline, follow the sailing or simply relax in the open air.

By distributing its social areas across different levels, the FP48 gives guests greater freedom in the way they use the yacht. Everyone can meet for lunch and later choose a more secluded place to read, rest or enjoy the approach to a bay. This arrangement appears equally suitable for family holidays and extended cruising.

Two layouts for different cruising plans

The FP48 will be available in Maestro and Quatuor versions. The Maestro layout reserves the entire port hull for the owner’s suite, providing greater privacy and more generous private accommodation. The Quatuor configuration gives priority to the number of cabins, making it suitable for larger families, groups of friends or cruising programmes requiring additional guest capacity.

Choosing between the two versions involves more than simply adding or removing a cabin. It allows owners to decide how the yacht should balance personal space, hospitality and shared life during a voyage.

Solar power supporting greater autonomy

The new sailing catamaran can be equipped with up to 2,300 watts of solar panels. This capacity can be combined with the ODSea+ solution, developed to improve energy management and reduce reliance on conventional systems while cruising or spending time at anchor.

Energy autonomy has a direct influence on everyday comfort aboard a cruising catamaran. Producing and managing more electricity can make it easier to operate onboard systems, remain away from marinas for longer periods and plan more flexible itineraries.

A catamaran designed around its guests

The first official photographs present the FP48 as more than a display of furnishings and equipment. The yacht is shown during ordinary moments on board, with guests moving between the saloon, cockpits, cabins and sunbathing areas. This makes it easier to understand the proportions of the spaces and imagine how they could work during a real cruise.

The architecture appears intended to follow the habits of the people on board rather than forcing them into rigid routes. Open views, several communal areas and a balanced distribution of spaces suggest a catamaran for owners who consider sailing part of a broader experience.

The international debut in Cannes

Following its official presentation on 16 July 2026, the Fountaine Pajot FP48 is scheduled to make its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 8 to 13 September. It will then appear at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle, the Genoa International Boat Show, the Barcelona International Boat Show and the Annapolis Sailboat Show.

These events will allow visitors to explore the spaces introduced in the official images and assess the connection between the saloon, the cockpit and the other exterior areas. They will also provide the first opportunity to understand how the model fits within the wider Fountaine Pajot range and today’s competitive cruising catamaran market.

A different way to experience catamaran cruising

The FP48 does not appear to rely on spectacular features created merely to attract attention. Its character comes from a combination of practical ideas intended to make life on board easier, increase the perception of space and keep the sea constantly visible.

With this model, Fountaine Pajot offers a sailing catamaran built around shared experiences while still providing private areas when required. It is aimed at owners who want to travel under sail without giving up comfort, energy autonomy or the freedom to enjoy the sea at their own pace.
