Tecnomarine Yachts is entering a new chapter in its history with an industrial project that brings together Italian boatbuilding heritage, contemporary technology and a highly personalised approach to yacht construction.

The shipyard is restarting operations in the Pisa Navicelli district, where it plans to develop a new range of aluminium yachts between 25 and 50 metres. Leading this return are the Tecnomarine TM33 and Tecnomarine TM40, created in collaboration with Dragoni Designlab and due to take centre stage at the next Monaco Yacht Show.

A familiar name begins a new journey

Tecnomarine was established in Viareggio in 1972 by Moreno Maestrelli and the Picchiotti boatbuilding family, with the involvement of yacht designer Paolo Caliari.

Over the following decades, the shipyard delivered more than 300 yachts and developed a strong reputation for aluminium construction. Models such as the C-42, the Cobra series and the 36-metre T-118 became part of the brand’s identity and helped establish its position within Italian yachting.

The new project is not intended as a nostalgic recreation of the past. Instead, it aims to transform Tecnomarine’s technical heritage into a contemporary production platform for owners seeking individuality, efficiency and reliable cruising characteristics.

A new production base in Pisa Navicelli

The relaunch is led by entrepreneur Massimiliano Zilioli, who has brought the brand back to the Navicelli canal, one of Tuscany’s most active and specialised yachtbuilding districts.

Tecnomarine’s new facility includes approximately 3,500 square metres of covered production space and 3,000 square metres of outdoor operational areas. The site will be dedicated to custom yacht construction, with each project developed around the owner’s requirements rather than a rigid standard specification.

Its location also gives the shipyard access to the extensive network of skills available in the region, including metal fabrication, engineering, interior outfitting and specialised marine technology.

Aluminium shapes the new Tecnomarine range

One material will define the shipyard’s future production. Every yacht in the new range will be built in aluminium, covering both displacement and semi-displacement configurations.

Aluminium provides an effective balance of strength, weight control and structural flexibility. It allows designers and engineers to adapt volumes, openings, deck arrangements and interior layouts with considerable freedom, making it particularly suitable for highly personalised yachts.

The planned range will extend from 25 to 50 metres and will focus on seaworthiness, comfort and practical long-distance use. Rather than offering yachts that differ only in their interior decoration, Tecnomarine intends to give owners greater influence over the structure and organisation of the vessel itself.

TM33 brings a fresh approach to the fast cruiser

At 33 metres, the new TM33 has been conceived as a modern aluminium fast cruiser. Its design combines a sporty profile with generous onboard living areas and a carefully managed distribution of internal volume.

The exterior lines are clean and dynamic, while the deck layout prioritises open-air spaces that can be enjoyed during cruising, at anchor or while spending extended periods on board.

This approach makes the TM33 suitable for owners who appreciate performance but do not want to compromise on comfort, usability or contact with the sea. It is designed as a versatile platform rather than a yacht defined by a single way of travelling.

TM40 opens the yacht towards the water

The Tecnomarine TM40 develops the same philosophy on a larger 40-metre platform. Its design places particular emphasis on the visual and physical relationship between the interior and the surrounding marine environment.

Large mirrored windows introduce natural light into the main living spaces and reduce the sense of separation between inside and outside. At the stern, the yacht opens onto a terrace-like area positioned close to the water.

The structural flexibility of aluminium allows the layout to be adjusted according to the owner’s priorities. Interior arrangements, social areas and exterior openings can therefore be configured for private cruising, entertaining or longer journeys.

Five models will shape the future of the shipyard

The announced Tecnomarine portfolio includes the TM33, TM40, TM41, TM45 and TM90. While the TM33 and TM40 currently lead the relaunch, the wider range shows the shipyard’s intention to build a broader and more recognisable presence in aluminium yacht construction.

The collaboration with Dragoni Designlab, led by Michele Dragoni, plays an important role in establishing the visual identity of this new generation. The design language is based on balanced proportions, clean surfaces and solutions intended to improve the onboard experience without relying on unnecessary stylistic excess.

Tecnomarine’s heritage remains part of the project, but it is being treated as a source of expertise rather than a fixed formula. The aim is to create yachts that feel connected to the brand’s history while meeting the expectations of today’s owners.

Monaco will introduce the new Tecnomarine

The Monaco Yacht Show will provide the international stage for the official presentation of Tecnomarine Yachts’ new direction.

The shipyard will introduce its production organisation in Pisa Navicelli, its aluminium construction strategy and the projects included in the new range. The TM33 and TM40 will receive particular attention as the first clear expressions of the company’s renewed identity.

Tecnomarine is returning with a familiar name but a different industrial perspective. Its future will be built around Italian craftsmanship, adaptable design and yachts created for owners who see the sea not simply as a setting, but as a place to explore and experience in their own way.
