Verdura Resort blends Mediterranean views, Sicilian cuisine, championship golf and restorative wellness across a private coastal estate

Set along Sicily’s southern coast, surrounded by open countryside, citrus groves and uninterrupted Mediterranean views, Verdura Resort offers a contemporary interpretation of island hospitality. The Rocco Forte Hotels property extends across 230 hectares near Sciacca, bringing nature, wellness, sport and dining together within an exceptionally spacious coastal retreat.

A resort shaped by the Sicilian landscape

Luxury at Verdura is expressed through privacy, freedom and a strong sense of place rather than formality. Low-rise buildings settle naturally into the countryside, allowing gardens, olive trees and the changing colours of the sea to remain at the centre of the experience.

Although the resort provides the facilities expected from an international five-star destination, it never feels disconnected from its surroundings. The atmosphere is unmistakably Sicilian, warm and relaxed, with enough space to let every guest follow a different pace.

Rooms and villas facing the Mediterranean

Rooms, junior suites, family accommodation and private villas open towards the sea or the fragrant gardens. Balconies and terraces extend the interiors outdoors, making the Mediterranean horizon part of everyday life from breakfast until sunset.

Three and four-bedroom villas provide additional independence for families and groups. In 2026, selected sea-facing suites were also redesigned by Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, blending coastal modernism with Sicilian craftsmanship and the character of a refined island home.

Golf courses that travel towards the sea

Verdura Resort has established itself as one of the Mediterranean’s leading golf destinations. Two championship courses and a nine-hole par-3 layout, all designed by Kyle Phillips, stretch across the estate and gradually approach the coastline.

Generous fairways, coastal winds and broad sea views give each round its own character. Golf here feels less like a separate resort facility and more like another way to discover the landscape.

A culinary journey rooted in the estate

Eight restaurants and bars create a varied dining experience connected to produce grown on the resort’s own farm. Under the culinary direction of Fulvio Pierangelini, local ingredients and fresh fish from Sciacca appear across menus ranging from Italian classics to Japanese-inspired cuisine.

Liolà brings the easy-going warmth of a family trattoria, with wood-fired pizza and colourful majolica. Zagara offers a more refined Mediterranean experience, while L’Osteria serves dishes shaped by the daily harvest and the local catch from lunch into the evening.

Sicily and Japan meet inside a Saracen tower

Among the resort’s most distinctive dining experiences is Nagori, an intimate restaurant located within an ancient Saracen tower. Japanese culinary techniques are used to enhance Mediterranean ingredients, creating an unexpected conversation between two island cultures.

The bars also reflect their surroundings. Scirocco Bar takes its name from the warm African wind that reaches Sicily and serves cocktails made with estate-grown botanicals, accompanied by wide sunset views from its terrace.

Wellness inspired by local nature and longevity

The Irene Forte Spa draws much of its identity from Sicily itself. Treatments, restorative programmes and locally grown botanicals shape an approach to wellness that extends beyond conventional beauty rituals.

Its philosophy also looks towards nearby Caltabellotta and the longevity traditions associated with the area. Nutrition, movement, rest and meaningful human connection become part of a broader idea of wellbeing, encouraging guests to reconsider not only how they relax, but how they use their time.

Active days with room for complete stillness

The Mediterranean naturally dominates the setting, yet the size of the estate makes it easy to move between the beach, swimming pools, tennis, cycling and a wide selection of sporting experiences. Activities can define the day or simply remain available while guests enjoy the landscape at a slower rhythm.

Families are also well catered for, with spacious accommodation and dedicated experiences for different age groups. Everyone can enjoy the same destination without necessarily sharing the same holiday schedule.

A Mediterranean address with a maritime soul

For travellers exploring the Sicilian coast, Verdura Resort feels like a natural continuation of life by the sea. Nearby Sciacca, known for its fishing traditions and maritime identity, gives the destination a sense of authenticity that reaches far beyond its private coastline.

Verdura does not attempt to recreate Sicily as a decorative theme. Instead, the island enters the experience through its food, architecture, vegetation, light and everyday rituals. That genuine relationship with the destination gives the resort an elegance that feels personal, relaxed and difficult to reproduce elsewhere.
