Lagoon Eighty 2, a travelling villa shaped around the sea

The Lagoon Eighty 2 brings seaside-villa comfort to a nearly 25-metre sailing catamaran created for extended cruising

With open living areas, expansive glazing and an aft platform that brings life on board remarkably close to the water, the Lagoon Eighty 2 reimagines the sailing catamaran as a residence able to move from one horizon to the next. Rather than relying on conspicuous excess, it creates a more subtle form of luxury, the feeling of being completely at ease even when the coastline has disappeared from view.

A new flagship for the Lagoon range

Measuring 24.97 metres overall with an 11-metre beam, the Eighty 2 succeeds the Seventy 7 as the flagship of Lagoon’s sailing range. Its dimensions are substantial, yet the design avoids turning size into spectacle. Balanced proportions, clean lines and fluid connections between the different decks make life aboard a catamaran approaching 25 metres feel surprisingly natural.

Naval architecture is by VPLP Design, which also developed the exterior styling with Patrick Le Quément, while the interiors were created by Nauta Design. Their combined work brings the cruising catamaran closer to the superyacht world without abandoning the qualities that make a multihull attractive for extended voyages, including stability, generous space and a close relationship with the sea.

A flybridge for every part of the day

One of the defining areas of the Lagoon Eighty 2 is its flybridge, a space of approximately 50 square metres that serves as much more than a technical deck. Twin helm stations share the area with lounges and social spaces, leaving owners considerable freedom to create an arrangement suited to their lifestyle.

From this elevated terrace, the horizon remains visible in every direction while sailing operations are concentrated within a clearly organised working area. Integrated solar panels help supply some of the yacht’s onboard services, supporting quieter and more considered energy use, particularly during extended stays at anchor.

The stern becomes a terrace over the water

At the stern, the yacht’s relationship with the sea is transformed by a movable platform that can extend to approximately 22 square metres when deployed. It can carry a tender or personal watercraft while cruising, then become a natural extension of the cockpit once the yacht reaches its anchorage.

The platform creates a comfortable setting for swimming, preparing diving equipment, relaxing in the sun or simply sitting close to the water. The usual separation between yacht and sea almost disappears, turning what could have remained a functional area into one of the most enjoyable places on board.

Additional seating runs along both sides of the aft cockpit, while a recessed lounge on the foredeck can be reached directly from the saloon. Outdoor life is therefore distributed across the yacht rather than confined to one principal area, providing different settings for a sheltered breakfast, an afternoon swim or an evening spent watching the horizon from above.

Light-filled interiors inspired by coastal homes

The main saloon is arranged on a single level, allowing guests to move easily between the interior and exterior spaces. Large windows bring natural light in from every direction and maintain an almost uninterrupted connection with the horizon.

The atmosphere recalls a contemporary seaside villa, with clean furniture, warm materials and a layout designed around conversation and shared experiences. Luxury is expressed through the quality of the spaces rather than decoration alone, creating interiors that feel calm, balanced and easy to inhabit.

An owner’s suite with a private sea terrace

The owner’s suite is one of the clearest expressions of the Eighty 2’s design philosophy. Its king-size bed is positioned to keep the seascape in view, while a private terrace opening from the side of the hull creates a secluded space directly above the water.

This feature does more than add usable floor area. It changes the character of the cabin, providing a private setting for reading, breakfast or a quiet view across the bay before the rest of the yacht comes to life.

Layouts are available with four or five cabins, together with different galley positions and a broad choice of furniture, woods, fabrics and finishes. The yacht can consequently be shaped around private family cruising, journeys with larger groups of guests or programmes supported by a professional crew.

A yacht tailored to the way its owner travels

Personalisation extends beyond colours and decorative materials. Lagoon offers different interior arrangements, a choice between a main-deck or lower-deck galley and loose furniture that allows some spaces to evolve according to how the yacht is being used.

The Eighty 2 therefore feels less like a fixed product and more like a platform from which an owner can develop a personal way of travelling. Some may favour expansive dining and entertaining areas, while others may prefer quieter spaces or transform the flybridge into an open-air living room used throughout much of the year.

Sailing remains part of its identity

Despite the emphasis placed on accommodation and comfort, the Lagoon Eighty 2 remains a catamaran designed to sail. It carries approximately 338 square metres of upwind sail area and is supported under power by two 230-horsepower John Deere engines.

A draught of 1.90 metres allows the yacht to approach bays and anchorages that may remain inaccessible to many vessels of comparable overall size. Fuel capacity totals 2,800 litres, while fresh-water capacity reaches 1,600 litres, supporting longer passages and extended periods away from marinas.

A different vision of the luxury catamaran

The Lagoon Eighty 2 does not simply imitate a conventional superyacht by placing larger rooms on two hulls. Instead, it uses the inherent qualities of the multihull platform to deliver a different experience based on stability, panoramic living spaces, generous outdoor areas and immediate access to the water.

It is intended for owners who see the journey as part of the pleasure rather than merely the distance separating two destinations. From its decks, the Mediterranean can be explored slowly, one anchorage at a time, with the comfort of a home and the freedom to wake each morning before a different coastline.
