White is not the first colour that comes to mind when picturing a watch built for underwater exploration. On the new Doxa SUB 200 T.GRAPH II Great White Topper Edition, however, it becomes the defining feature of a chronograph shaped by diving heritage, mechanical character and a genuine connection with the marine world. Limited to just 100 examples, the watch was created through a collaboration between DOXA and California retailer Topper Jewelers.

A dial inspired by the great white shark

The Great White name immediately evokes one of the ocean’s most recognisable predators, often encountered in the waters off Northern California. The reference extends well beyond the name. A white dial, deep blue details and an engraved caseback give the watch an identity closely tied to the Pacific Ocean and its remarkable wildlife.

The theme never feels theatrical or overstated. DOXA retains the purposeful appearance of its professional dive watches, allowing colour, luminosity and a handful of carefully chosen details to tell the story.

Luminescence becomes part of the design

The most distinctive feature is the dial, which is fully coated with Super-LumiNova. In daylight, its surface appears crisp, white and almost mineral in character. In darkness, it turns into a pale blue luminous disc designed to remain visible when natural light disappears.

Blue hands and markers preserve the contrast needed to read the time, while orange sections on the chronograph minute counter introduce a familiar DOXA accent. The result is colourful without becoming confused, balancing visual personality with the clarity expected from a serious dive instrument.

A cleaner layout without a date window

Unlike the standard SUB 200 T.GRAPH II models, the Great White has no date display. Removing the aperture creates more space around the counters and gives the dial a noticeably calmer, more symmetrical appearance.

That sense of order matters on a watch carrying several scales and indications. The final production movement is also configured as a genuine no-date calibre, rather than retaining an unused date mechanism beneath the dial.

A story that began in 1969

The watch traces its origins to 1969, when DOXA introduced its first T.Graph diving chronograph. Early Professional, Sharkhunter and Searambler references have since become highly sought-after among collectors, helped by the relatively small production numbers associated with the original series.

The modern SUB 200 T.GRAPH II draws on that heritage without becoming a straightforward reproduction. Its proportions have been refined, the movement is automatic and the construction reflects present-day expectations. The broad case, technical bezel and highly legible display nevertheless remain unmistakably connected to the historic model.

Substantial dimensions with controlled proportions

The stainless-steel case measures 42 millimetres in diameter, 44.5 millimetres from lug to lug and 14.6 millimetres thick. These are substantial dimensions, as expected from a mechanical diving chronograph, although the relatively short lug-to-lug measurement should help the watch sit more securely on the wrist.

A screw-down crown, chronograph pushers and DOXA’s decompression-scale bezel reinforce its instrument-like personality. Water resistance is rated to 200 metres, confirming that the Great White is more than a visual tribute, even though many examples may enter private collections before ever reaching open water.

The automatic Sellita SW510 calibre

Inside the case is the Sellita SW510, an automatic chronograph movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a stated power reserve of 56 hours. Its functions include hours, minutes, running seconds and elapsed-time measurement.

It is a proven mechanical platform suited to a watch intended for regular wear. The Great White can therefore move comfortably between a day on board, an underwater excursion and an evening ashore, without demanding the cautious treatment often associated with purely collectible timepieces.

Steel bracelet and navy FKM rubber

The watch is delivered on DOXA’s familiar stainless-steel beads of rice bracelet, fitted with a ratcheting extension designed to accommodate a wetsuit. A navy blue FKM rubber strap is also included, providing a lighter and more contemporary alternative that complements the blue dial details.

Each option changes the personality of the watch. The steel bracelet reinforces its connection with the professional dive instruments of the 1960s and 1970s, while the rubber strap feels more relaxed and particularly well suited to warm-weather life by the sea.

One hundred watches with a California connection

Production of the Great White Topper Edition is limited to only 100 pieces, each priced at 4,690 US dollars. The watch is supplied in a specially branded presentation box created for the collaboration.

Part of the proceeds will support the Greater Farallones Association, a nonprofit organisation involved in restoring coastal habitats and protecting marine life within the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary. This initiative gives the shark-inspired identity a more tangible dimension, linking the watch with the conservation of the environment that inspired it.

A diver for those who carry the sea with them

The Doxa SUB 200 T.GRAPH II Great White was not designed to disappear quietly beneath a cuff. Its luminous dial, substantial case and ocean-inspired colours give it an unmistakable presence. Yet the absence of a date window and the restrained palette also introduce a clarity that keeps the overall design remarkably balanced.

It is likely to appeal to collectors, divers and anyone who views nautical watches as more than accessories. Even when worn on the deck of a yacht rather than beneath the surface, it retains the character of a mechanical instrument created to keep a small part of the underwater world close at hand.
