Rev Ocean mega motor yacht has been built in Fincantieri plants - Vard shipyards in Tulcea Romania - and will become one of the most technological floating laboratories in the world but also a comfortable charter yacht whose proceeds will finance research on ocean health throughout the world.The tycoon Kjell Inge Røkke has invested 2.7 billion for the construction of the Rev Ocean and has founded an association that carries the same name. REV-Ocean is a non-profit association that aims to gather vital information on the impact of carbon dioxide emissions, plastic pollution and the impact of commercial fishing to raise awareness of global impacts on Marine environment.The superyacht will now travel from Romania to Norway, where it will be equipped with all kinds of scientific equipment, including research laboratories, sonar systems, a lunar pool, classrooms, an auditorium and a remote-controlled robot capable of diving to a depth of 20,000 feet. Once completed, the boat will be able to carry 55 scientists, and a crew of 35 people.But the superyacht will not be just for scientists. The association’s website makes it clear that REV Ocean will also be available for hire by groups or individuals. During the charter, the ship will be able to accommodate up to 28 guests, with space for 54 crew members.
